Social Responsibility

True socioeconomic advancement is impossible without sustainability. For this reason, Savanna Oils has evaluated the growth potential of both industry and skills development for the communities that coexist with indigenous organic resources that grow in the wild. As a seed contains the potential for future harvests, the development of skills in rural communities of South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia gives both an immediate financial gain that alleviates seasonal poverty and long-term employment prospects for community members.

The collection and production of Marula and other indigenous fruits create chances for community-owned warehouses, nurseries, logistical assistance and mobile processing facilities. To ensure the sustainable commercialization of the fruit in relevant territories, processing units are deployed in phases to allow rural communities to gradually ramp up to fully operational facilities. Additionally, this phased-in method will enable community collectors to establish value-added processes for their raw materials. In doing so, they maximize the worth of their product before selling it.

Savanna Oils and its founders are proud to support:

  • a total of 22 villages in the areas of Phalaborwa, Phalabeni, Selwane, Hoedspruit and Acornhoek in South Africa, where there are 850 registered harvesters.
  • in Mozambique, a total of over 600 women from numerous districts like Moamba district, Sabie district, Boane district and Guaza district.
  • In Namibia, a total of over 1000 women from numerous districts are indirectly beneficiaries of the sourcing of Marula product
